guess i should start putting up some of the stuff ive been looking at...

This article looks specifically at a very religious woman, Lashuan Harris who believed the murder of her own offspring in 2005 was “ her attempt to transfer her children to heaven," following the "commands from God.” take a look guys, some people really will do anything for what they believe...

Powerful stuff. There's a fine line between religious convivtions and raving madness at times. We need to be careful that we don't choke the performance up with fuel for the fire that says you've got to be insane to risk your life or someone elses, but this case needs consideration

i agree. religious views could almost be described as an 'excuse'in some cases. what makes people think in this day and age that an individual belief makes something that extreme alright??? Epecially when others following similar religions etc can simply believe without the dramatics!

There is a very fine line. There is also cultural things that to us seem wrong and innappropriate and completely fine in other countries. Isn't there a story that (I'm sure it's from the bible) about a man sacrificing his son for god? Again this isn't questioned as wrong but as the calling of god. That sacrifice is ok as long as it is for god?

pretty sure its greek mythology hun or that could be different. im sure most cultures and religions have similar tales. i suppose if the beliefs are that strong they feel that they answer to nobody but god, in which case in their eyes they are doing no wrong... very complex

its the story of god testing abraham to kill his only son, one that hes waited years to have, having beleived his wife sarah was barren, he takes him up to a hill side and is about to plunge the knife in, god tells him to stop, that by going through with it he's shown god his love for him.
